World Cup 2019 Semi-final: England crushes Australia to make entry in the finals

England has once again entered the finals of the ICC world cup tournament and they will be meeting in the grand finale that will be held in Lords Cricket stadium in England. It is sure that this time, we will be having a new champion in cricket as New Zealand and England have not yet won the most priced event in the international cricket.

Batting first, the Australians were able to score 223 in 49 overs and they were all out in the innings due to some terrific bowling by the England team. The England bowling really teared apart the Australian batting line up and seven of their batsmen returned to the pavilion without seeing the double digit.

But thanks for an amazing and composed batting by Steve Smith who scored an amazing 85 runs from 119 balls, which included 4 fours. He really held his calm and was very much resilient while facing England’s bowling attack. For Australia, Alex Carey also chipped in with an important 46 runs from 70 balls which too included four strikes to the boundary.

Other notable scorers for Australia included Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Starc who scored 22 and 29 runs respectively. England bowler Chris Woakes made the most of the damage as he took 3 wickets and just conceded 20 runs from his 8 overs. Spinner Adil Rashid also took 3 wickets at the expense of 54 runs from his 10 overs spell. Bowler Jofra Archer took 2 wickets and Mark Wood also managed to take a wicket that lead to the total downfall of the Australian batting line up.

Chasing a victory target of 224, the England team started with a good opening partnership and Jason Roy scored an amazing 85 runs from just 65 balls. His opening partner Jonny Bairstow was also scored a useful 34 runs from 43 balls. Jason Roy scored 5 sixes and 9 fours during his innings, while Bairstow scored 5 fours in his solid innings.  England batsmen Joe Root scored 49 runs from 46 balls and Edin Morgan made a brisk 45 from 39 balls, which really ensured England’s entry into the 2019 world cup cricket tournament.

In the previous semifinal between India and New Zealand, the Indian team got defeated and thereby ending their dream run in the tournament. India was considered to be the favorites to win the cup this time, but things did not go well for the Indian team in the semifinals.
