Former Pakistan cricket team skipper and left hand pace bowler Wasim Akram was quick to act on social media for reporting the upsetting experience that he had at the Manchester airport on Tuesday.
As per Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan player was mistreated and rudely questioned by the airport authorities.
The legendary fast bowler said that the airport authorities and Manchester did not allow him to take his diabetes medication in the cold case. Usually, the patients who are suffering from diabetes have to carry the insulin in cold cases, but in this case, the Manchester airport authorities asked Akram to discard it and take the insulin in a plastic bag. If the insulin is not kept in the cold cases, it will definitely lose its capacity and strength.
Wasim Akram was very much disappointed at this and he was quick to express his emotions on Twitter.
He made a tweet, “Very disheartened at Manchester airport today, I travel around the world with my insulin but never have I been made to feel embarrassed. Felt very humiliated as I was rudely questioned & ordered publicly to take my insulin out of its travel cold-case & dumped in to a plastic bag,”
Wasim Akram has been diagnosed with diabetes since he was a young player for Pakistan and he had played a lot of cricket with the disease.
Akram has taken 414 Test wickets from 104 matches and is regarded as the one and only fast bowler to cross 500 wickets barrier in ODI cricket. Akram has picked 502 wickets from 356 ODI games that he has played in his career. Akram was first discovered with diabetes in 1997 and with proper diet and exercise he managed to control it and continued playing cricket. Wasim Akram was also a part of the commentary team that managed the 2019 world cup cricket in England.
