Pardeep Singh Makes India Proud By Winning Gold In Commonwealth Championship 

Indian weightlifter Pardeep Singh has won a gold medal on the last day of the Commonwealth Championship by creating a new Commonwealth record in clean and jerk.  Indian weightlifters continued his spectacular display on the last day of the Commonwealth Championships here on Saturday.  Pardeep competed in 109kg category and lifted record by lifting 202 kgs in clean and jerk.  He raised a total weight of 350 kg in this class.

Indian weightlifter from Jalandhar Punjab has won Silver medal in the men’s 105 kg weight class at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also has won Bronze in Clean and Jerk at 102kg Category in 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships

Two-time medal winner Vikas Thakur won the silver medal in men’s 96kg in Commonwealth Games. Vikal raised the weight of 338 kg (153 kg + 185 kg).  India ended its campaign by winning 35 medals in young, junior and senior categories breaking many national, Commonwealth, World and Asian records.

In last commenwealth games, Padeep Singh raised the weight of 352 in the 105 kg category (152 in the snatch and 200 in clean and jerk). Samoa’s Saneili Mao won gold in this category.  He weighed 360 kg (154 in snatch and 206 in clean and jerk). Bonze came in the part of the England oven boxel.  He weighed 351 (152 in the snatch and 199 in clean and jerk) kg.

Pardeep Singh took 148 kg in the first attempts  snatch, but fouled.  After this,  he took the weight of 148 kg and 152 kg in the second attempt. Weighing 200 kg in the first attempt of clean and jerk, he attempted 209kg.  In the third attempt, he opted 211 kg, but this time also did not get success.

Pardeep won gold in the Commonwealth Youth, Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships held in Gold Coast in September 2017.  Then he weighed 342 in the 105 kg category (147 in the snatch and 195 in clean and jerk) kg.  Taking so much weight, he also made a national record in the snap of senior category.

However, last year, at the World Championship in Anaheim (United States), he stood at 19th place.  There he weighed 349 (153 in the snatch and 196 in clean and jerk) kg.
