England wins the 2019 World Cup Cricket in a nail-biting super over against New Zealand

It was always expected that this time, we will be having a new world champion in world cup cricket as both New Zealand and England have not won any world cup title so far. After chasing a victory target of 242 set by the New Zealand, the England managed to tie the match with 241 for 8 wickets.

As the match ended in a tie, it was all set for the super over. The England won the super over as New Zealand tied with the score of England’s 15 runs from one over. As per the law of this tournament, England was declared as the winner of the tournament. This has been a great win for the inventors of this game and England team and followers are very much happy over this achievement.

In the final match of the 2019 world cup cricket against England, the New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. New Zealand lost their first wicket in the form of Martin Guptill, when the score was on 29 and Chris Woakes was the wicket taker. After a partnership of 74 runs with Henry Nicholls, Kane Williamson lost his wicket to Liam Plunkett, when the score was on 103. Henry Nicholls made a solid 55 runs from 77 runs before Plunkett dismissed when the total score was on 118 runs. Ross Taylor was also dismissed on 15 runs when New Zealand’s score was 141 runs and his wicket was claimed by Mark Wood.

Jimmy Neesham could make only 19 runs, before being dismissed by Plunkett when the score card read 173. England bowler Woakes dismissed Grandhomme for 16 rums, when the New Zealand score was on 219. Tom Latham was out of the bowling by Woakes for a solid 47 runs. Ultimately New Zealand ended up with a score of 241 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

For England, Woakes and Plunkett took 3 wickets each, while Archer and Wood took 1 wicket each.

Chasing a score of 242 runs to win from the 50 overs, England faced the first blow when Jason Roy was dismissed for 17 runs by Matt Henry. Joe Root was the next one to go with a score of 7 runs and the wicket was taken by Colin de Grandhomme at the total score of 59. Ferguson had offered his squad a step forward earlier in the 20th over when he bowled out Jonny Bairstow (36). Eoin Morgan made only 9 runs, before he was dismissed by Jimmy Neesham. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler forged partnership of 110 runs, when Buttler got rid by Ferguson for 59 runs from 60 balls.

Ferguson got rid of Woakes for just 2 runs when the score was on 203 and Plunket was dismissed by Neesham while the score read 220. At the same time Ben Stokes was bravely at the other end giving England some hopes of making it up. Archer was bowled by Neesham for a duck when they needed England needed 15 runs from 7 balls. But Ben Stokes with 83 runs made sure that England tied the final match of the 2019 world cup, which will be regarded as one of the best finals in the world cup history.
