Tim Murtagh – England Batsman Behind the Downfall of the Team

On the first day of a 4-day match, England selected to bat against Ireland at Lord’s. People might have not imagined the score at the earliest. In the recently crowned World Cup Tournament, England was all out with a score of 85. Yes, you heard it right!. The bowlers at Ireland in the third test considered betters for less than 3 figures. 

The main reason for the downfall of England was their own Englishman. He is none other than Tim Murtagh, the elder statesman in the side. In his third Test, a pacer took 5/13 to divide the back of the English in an effective manner. Since his birth, Tim was an Englishman. He was actually born in London even his grandfather was from Dublin. After making his debut in ODIs and T20Is, he became a part of history as Ireland made their test debut against Pakistan.

In the 3rd match, he took a 5-wicket pull against the opponent at the cricket stadium. He actually retired from cricket team in the year 2015 due to a wound. Later, he came out of retirement in the year 2016. The bowlers from Ireland pitched 82 percent of their deliveries at a decent length. In the first 15 overs of the Test Innings in England, they have set a second-highest figure in the match since the commencement of the year 2018. 

Previously, England won the toss and opted to bat initially in the four-day test match. It’s a warm-up match for the skipper Joe Root’s men prior to the Ashes series. It commences next week at Edgbaston while Ireland played their first test match against England. Speaking about the teams, England’s team squad include Jason Roy, Rory Burns, Joe Denly, Joe Root (captain), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, and Olly Stone.

On the other hand, the Ireland team include Will Porterfield (captain), Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, James McCollum, Kevin O’Brien, Gary Wilson, Mark Adair, Andy McBrine, Stuart Thompson, Boyd Rankin, and Tim Murtagh.
