An NEET Clearance Truck Driver’s Son Wants Not To Be A Doctor But To Teach Students In Village

Hard work pays off and it is yet again proved by the son of a truck driver. Abhishek hails from a small Dhaulia village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and his father is a truck driver by profession and his mother hasn’t attended school. This boy is to live his dream of becoming a doctor.

Abhishek appeared for NEET 2019 and cleared it with score 612 in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET is an examination must be cleared by students for admission to medical and dental colleges. Abhishek secured 5,305th rank in the general category and going to be the first doctor not only in his village but also from the several surrounding villages.

Dhaulia village has around three hundred houses with a population number of around a thousand people. After clearing the exam, Abhishek, who belongs to a lower income group was asked about this achievement, to this he said, “My family lives in Dhuliya village in Mohangarh. My father Jagdish Vishnoi is class 8 pass and is a truck driver. My mother is an illiterate.” His younger brother, Sumit has also passed class 12 this year.

Mohangarh is at a distance of 150 km from the village Dhaulia where Abhishek’s family resides. The family has an agricultural land there which they use to farm only in summers. Due to the lack of water in winter, it is not possible to continue farming throughout the year. So, they a have non-permanent income source. Their financial status might be changed if their elder son Abhishek becomes a doctor.

To become a doctor, Abhishek got the motivation from his uncle who is a lecturer at the government school in the village. Abhishek completed the study till class 8 from there only. His uncle after seeing his good marks in Class 10 motivated him to prepare for the examination to become a doctor.

After he cleared Class 12 with good grades, his uncle’s friend suggested him to go to Kota to take the classes for medical examination. Talking about it, Abhishek said, “At that time, I was unaware how to become a doctor and which test to take. But then I got to know about NEET and went to Kota for coaching. Initially, it was difficult, but I gradually coped up and started securing decent scores. I stayed in Kota for three years and cracked NEET 2019.”

Now, when he has cleared NEET, he wants to take admission at RNT Medical College in Udaipur. But, instead of becoming a doctor, he wants to complete his MBBS and then become a teacher to guide the students in village. As he feels that there are many talented students in villages whose talents remain unrecognized in life because of lack of good counselling in guidance.
