New coach picked by BCCI; declaration forms on ‘conflict of interest’ submitted by CAC members

The members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), who will be selecting the support staff for the Indian team, have submitted their “conflict of interest” declaration forms.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consists of former Indian captain Kapil Dev, former coach Anshuman Gaekwad and former women’s cricket captain Shanta Rangaswamy. A senior BCCI official said that before the interviews are conducted by the committee members, they usually declare their activities to ascertain if they will fail in the conflict of the purview of interest. Everyone including the commentators should follow this procedure and the BCCI ethics officer will be handling it.

There is also wrong information spreading that one member of the CAC has conflict of interest, but now the case has changed. As per the declaration by Gaekwad, it has been learnt that his son, Shatrunjay is running an age group cricket academy.

The CAC has now assigned the task to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to decide whether they are eligible to do the appointments. A member of the CAC had said that the committee can decide whether they can appoint the next head coach of the Indian cricket team. They just need to reply to the mail from CEO Rahul Johri on declaring their conflict of interest.

The CoA will be discussing the replies of the three members with the legal team in their next meeting. If the legal team finds out that there are no conflicts they will move forward. If they find any conflicts, the Ethics Officer will come into the frame.
