From Virendra Sehwag to Shahid Afridi, Cricketers Married Their Relatives 

Cricketers enjoy immense fan following and due to this, even their personal lives are always under scanner. The fans want to know details about their favorite cricketers. Like other cricketers, when Yuvraj Singh tied the knot to Hazel and when Virat Kohli tied the nuptial knot to Anushka Sharma, they received congratulatory messages from world. Though, the cricketers did love marriage but there are a few cricketers who married to their relatives. So, let’s know who are these cricketers:

Virendra Sehwag- Aarti

Aarti’s elder sister had told in an interview that the wedding took place in the (Virendra-Aarti) family.  This was a love marriage, our aunt (Papa’s sister) was married to his cousin in Sehwag’s family.  After this marriage, Virendra became brother-in-law to our aunt. In May 2002, after 14 years of friendship, Sehwag proposed Aarti in a funny tone. But Aarti, considering it as a real proposal, immediately said yes. This was disclosed by Sehwag himself. The two had been dating for almost three years and then married in April 2004.  Sehwag-Aarti has two sons.

Shahid Afridi- Nadia

Afridi is married to his maternal uncle’s daughter. Afridi who talk less about his personal life revealed in an interview about his marriage that before going on a tour, I told my father that I want to get married.  Find me a girl  – I said this jokingly, but he took it seriously. When I returned, he told me that I have made your match. I was surprised. I too went away congratulating him. Shahid’s wife was none other than his maternal uncle’s daughter Nadia. Afridi-Nadia was married on October 22, 2000.  Then the series was going on between England and Pakistan.

Mustafizur Rahman – Samia Parvin

The cricketer from Bangladesh tied the knot with his maternal cousin, Samia Parvin. Samia is a psychology student at Dhaka University. The family of the cricketer believed that marriage helped the pacer overcome the issues caused by the health. The cricketer threw a grand wedding reception after the 2019 World Cup.

Saeed Anwar – Lubna

The Pakistani cricketer who liked to stay away from the limelight got hitched to his cousin, Lubna in 1996. Lubna was a doctor by profession. In the same year 1996, Anwar flourished in the Test arena with averaged 63. Everything was going good in Anwar’s life until a bad struck in 2001 when he lost his daughter. The cricketer was not able to continue with the game and took retirement after the 2003 World Cup.

Mosaddek Hossain – Sharmin Samira Usha

Bangladeshi cricketer got married in 2012 at a tender age of 16. He tied the knot with his cousin, Sharmin Samira. Till last year, things were going all good between the two but then the cricketer was blamed by his wife over dowry issue. Sharmin framed raised a complaint against him and he almost lost his place in the team.
