Suresh a native of Krishnagiri and Jayapradha tied the knot and had two children. In the year 2016, Suresh left his family and did not return after. Suresh abandoned his family due to certain problems and then started working as a mechanic in Hosur. His wife lodged a complaint to the police after trying all the sorts to fund him by herself. She enquired with Suresh’s friends and relatives but didn’t find him. Though, the police registered an FIR but couldn’t find him.

Now, three years later, she reunited with him, when a relative spotted him in a TikTok video. This time TikTok helped this woman amidst all the criticism the app is facing. In three years, no major breakthrough happened in the case until a relative of Jaya noticed a person resembling Suresh in the video. Jayapradha confirmed that the man in the video is her husband.

She took the matter to Villupuram police station and they traced him down to Hosur where he was working in Hosur as a  mechanic in a tractor company and was in a relationship with a trans woman.Upon inquiry, he told the cops that he ran away from his family due to some family issues and never wished to return to his wife and two children.

As per an officer’s statement:

The trans woman was also in the video, and we traced them down with the help of the transgender association in Villupuram. Suresh and Jayapradha have been counselled to live together.

This is the first case when this app helped someone. As on April 3, Madras High Court had asked the Centre to ban TikTok after believing that it encouraged pornography and made child users vulnerable to sexual predators.
