Ethiopia creates new record by planting 35 cr trees in a day to challenge climate change

Ethiopia is a country in Africa, which is well known for having an interesting past and also holds a unique place when it comes to tradition and culture. Now, the country has just made a world record by planting 35 crore tress in just 12 hours.

The official said that they made this record on 29th July in its bid to tackle the global climate changes. The Prime Minister of Ehiopia, Abiy Ahmed says that the country is in a mission to counter the side effects of deforestation and climate change in the area which are more prone to drought and other issues related to water scarcity.

The campaign for planting the trees for preventing the effects of climate change is called as “Green Legacy” and this campaign will be implemented in around 1000 sites across Ethiopia. A large number of Ethiopians were invited to be a part of this campaign and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that within the first 6 hours, around 150 millions were planted across the country.

As per the Green Legacy Initiative by the Prime Minister, 4 billions trees are supposed to be planted between May and October. It means that 40 trees have to be planted by a person in the country.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that they have already reached the half of their goal and also urged the Ethiopians to keep on the momentum in the remaining hours. After 12 hours, the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced on Twitter that his country met the collective green legacy goal more than expected.

As per the country’s minister for innovation and technology, Getahun Mekuria, a total of 353,633,660 tree saplings have been planted so far and the  tweeted. Various Staff from the United Nations, African Union and other foreign embassies in Ethiopia were also a part of this great initiative. A country like India could also take a leaf out of this book and emulate what the Ethiopians are doing to tackle the climate change.

Jabalpur man calls off order over non-Hindu delivery boy; Zomato response sets netizens abuzz

On July 30 night, a man made a special tweet regarding terminating his food order that he had placed on the well-known food delivery platform Zomato.

But, the reason of his order cancellation was really shocking and shameful.

Yes, Mr. Amit Shukla, a resident of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, called off his order as the most popular food-delivery app designated a non-Hindu rider to deliver his food stuff. Amit did not want a non-Hindu individual to touch his food.

“Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN ,” Mr. Shukla wrote in his tweet. “They allocated a non Hindu rider for my food they said they can’t change rider and can’t refund on cancellation I said you can’t force me to take a delivery I don’t want don’t refund just cancel. (sic)”

In spite of all this, Zomat’s reaction on the complaint filed by the man is just winning hearts of netizens.

In his reaction, Zomato wrote, “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion.”

In his different tweets, Amit also posted the screenshots of his discussion with the customer care section of Zomato, and he said that he would take up the matter to the court.

While giving clarification on his report, Amit talked to media today and stated, “The constitution gives religious freedom to everyone. The month of Saavan is on, so I requested to change the rider. I will not order anything from Zomato now on. It was my right to deny, I was paying for it. I ordered food and they sent a non-Hindu rider. [When] I requested them to change the rider, they refused, so I asked them to cancel the order.”

He also said that he just made a general tweet and his intention was not to hit religious convictions.

“There was nothing religious in my tweet, but a section on Twitter gave it a religious angle.”

Amit apparently cancelled the order because he did not want a non-Hindu person to touch his food. However, we are not sure if he knows the religion of the person who prepared his food.

Mahesh from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India have set this record. Earlier, Shams Khan and Irfan Mehsood from Pakistan have set this record with 97 hugs and the Indian people surpassed the record.

Oldest Siblings

Take a look at the oldest set of brothers in the world namely Albano Andrade and his younger brother Alberto. They were actually born on 14th December 1909 and 2nd December 1911 respectively. The combined age of them is 216 years and 230 at the time of setting this record.

All of a sudden, they were startled after seeing a python in a corner pocket of the table. This incident took place in Brisbane in Australia.

Rajya Sabha gives green signal to triple talaq with big win in favor, centre calls it history

On Tuesday, the Indian parliament approved the bill that will land all who makes instant triple talaq in trouble.

The Parliament has passed a bill making the instant triple talaq an unlawful wrongdoing. While, BJD supported the cause, NDA constituents JD(U) and AIADMK made a swift walk out. It was only on last week that Lok Sabha passed the Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage, and now the Rajya Sabha has also approved it.

As per the new amendment, Muslim men who practice instant talaq will be sentenced to jail and the term can be up to three years.

The Upper House of the Parliament passed this important bill by winning 99 votes in favour of it, whereas there were 84 votes that were casted against the bill. The BJD supported the bill, but JD-U and AIADMK were against it, resulting in their walk out.

The walk out lowered the majority mark, which usually comes at 121. NDA has 107 members out of the total 242 members in Rajya Sabha. The absence of some members of  SP, BSP, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR-Congress meant a great help for the NDA.

Once the bill is approved by the President of India, it will replace the ordinance that that was promulgated on February 21st. The Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, has termed this bill as a move that is politically motivated to destroy Muslim households that have domestic fights.

The Triple Talaq bill failed to get the approval from the Upper House earlier this year and that was the first term of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The opposition parties states that the current law could be misused in many ways such as harassing the overall Muslim community and also urged it to be reviewed by a parliamentary committee.

Mohammad Amir’s choice to say goodbye to Test cricket at 27 years old, did not go well with former Pakistan pacers Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram.

Mohammad Amir, Pakistan’s fast bowler, announced his retirement from Test cricket with prompt effect on Friday. Referring to his longing to focus on white-ball cricket, the 27-year-old made an announcement through the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He will keep being available for ODIs and T20Is and said his objective was to be in the “best physical shape” for one year from now’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Be that as it may, Amir’s choice to say goodbye to the Tests at a young age did not go well with former Pakistan players Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram.

Akhtar said that Pakistan cricket has invested into Amir after his comeback from the spot-fixing ban, it was his turn to pay back.

“I am thoroughly disappointed that Amir has resigned at the age where players are at the peak of their careers. It was the ideal opportunity for Amir to pay back Pakistan. In a period where Pakistan’s run in Test matches is so poor, Amir was expected to help them win some series. I had helped Pakistan win series in England and New Zealand regardless of knee injuries,” Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

“In the event that I was a part of the Pakistan selection board, I would have not permitted these young men to play only T20s. There are times when you should money however, this is when Pakistan needs you.

“I request the board to investigate the matter. Amir is only 27 and his retirement shows us the mentality of the players. I think this is the ideal opportunity for Pakistan PM Imran Khan to investigate the issue to bring dynamic and energetic individuals.”

“All of these players simply need to be the T20 bowlers. This is the reality. Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, every one of these players need to play just during the T20s. Playing in the ODIs also seems to be a huge task for them,” the former Pakistan pacer included.

Then again, Wasim Akram took to Twitter to express his disappointment at Mohammad Amir’s sudden decision.

“To me, Mohammad Amir resigning from Test cricket is a bit surprising because you peak at 27-28 and Test cricket is the place you are judged against the best, it’s the ultimate format. Pakistan will require him in two Tests in Australia and after that three in England.
