Aparajita Rai became the first Gorkha Female IPS Officer of Sikkim when she was 28. Rai not only made the state’s Gorakh community bigheaded but also to the Kirat Khambu Rai society and to the entire country’s Gorkha society. Aparajita Rai is currently posted in the city of Hoogly in West Bengal.
She is the daughter of late Gyanendra Rai and Roma Rai. The proud lady cracked the UPSC exam in two attempts. First during the year 2011 and second time during the year 2012. On her status of 358 in UPSC 2012 exam, Aparajita Rai was allotted IPS cadre.
Aparajita Rai’s talents can be underscored from medals which she got during the course of her training. She had bagged a number of medals at that point in time. In all, Rai has won the high-status trophies including –
- 1958 Batch IPS officers’ Trophy for the best Lady Outdoor Probationer.
- Shri Umesh Chandra Trophy for Field Combat.
- The 55th Batch of Senior Course Officers Trophy for Best Turn Out and
- West Bengal Govt Trophy for Bengali.
While discussing her education, Rai completed her nursery to UKG classes from the Holy cross Montessori School. In ST.Thomas School, the talented girl completed class 1 to class 3.
When she was just 8 years old, her dad passed away. This was the most pathetic time for her and family that changed her life. Her family came under the major financial burden. But her mom, who was a teacher, cheered her up to carried on her studies.
The little girl came to know the reason behind his dad’s demise that was negligence and thoughtlessness of administrative administration and she made her mind to make a complete change in the system.
She carried on completing her ISC from Tashi Namgyal Academy as a merit student, where she was honored the Founders Medal for most excellent all-rounder student in the year 2004. Rai became the state topper during the ISC board examinations 2004 bagging 95% total marks. She finished her studies in the commerce field.
After that, she completed her graduation in law during the year 2009, BA LLB (Hons) from the WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata and bagged gold medals in Jurisprudence and Public International Law. In her initial try itself, she got 768th rank out of 920 when she had given CSE in 2010.
Even in her school days, she had been a bright pupil. Rai is the School topper (TNA ISC) 95%, also pocketed the Best girl all-rounder Shrimati Ratna Pradhan Memorial Trophy in TNA (Tashi Namgyal Academy) in Gangtok, Sikkim.
Rai’s story is truly inspiring and motivating and we are proud to have this talented girl in our Nation!
