Know John Cadbury and his Success Story, The Man Who Gave Us India’s Most Favourite Chocolate Brand

The brand of chocolates which we grew up eating was not so easy to form. The talented boy, John Cadbury is the founder of the Cadbury business who started the series of products just through a grocery shop.

Yes, John Cadbury started by opening a grocery shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham in 1824. Belonging to a Quaker community which considered alcohol bad for society, John used to prepare drinking chocolate, cocoa, tea, coffee as healthy alternatives to alcohol. All he used to make himself using pestle and mortar.

Cadbury’s, as it was known then, was formed in 1847 in partnership with John Candbury’sbrother, Benjamin Cadbury. In 1969, Cadbury merged with famous beverage brand Schweppes to form Cadbury Schweppes. After this, the acquires more beverage companies in the US, like Sunkist, Canada Dry, and Typhoon Tea.

Later in 2007, with changing business environment and customers’ tastes and preferences, Cadbury Schweppes diversified itself into two product lines – chocolate and confectionery products & drinks.

John Cadbury’s son, George Cadbury came up with Cadbury Dairymilk in June 1905 which proved to be the brand’s most successful product ever. Dairymilk eventually became Cadbury’s biggest seller by the beginning of the First World War. And by the early 1920s, it had taken over the UK market. And of course, it is still with us today and loved by all.

Not only this, Cadbury has always tried to add to its range of products. Some of the most successful products of Cadbury include Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Caramel, Wispa, Boost, Picnic, Flake, Chomp, and Fudge among others.

Cadbury has always responded to business changes and manufactured products as per consumers’ tastes and all of them were absolutely loved by us.
