This seems to be the best time for Amazon to roll out its own food delivery app

The hashtag #BoycottZomato is trending over the internet and this is mainly due to the incident that occurred along with Zomato’s tweet defending it.

The food delivery industry in India is in a saturated mode as of now and Swiggy and Zomato are the major names that compete between each other. It will be very hard for a new food delivery app to grow towards becoming the top brands in India. But with the latest incidents, Zomato is going through a bad time and the users have been deliberately giving them low rates. The recent tweet that was posted by Zomato on behalf of a customer cancelling the order as the delivery boy was a non-Hindu, triggered everyone over the internet.

As per some reliable sources, Amazon is indeed planning for an online food delivery app, which is to be launched in India shortly. It aims at taking on food delivery app giants such as Swiggy and Zomato. Amazon is very fast on it and the app is expected to start deliveries before September. Amazon is working with Catamaran, which is a venture capital firm that has been set up by the founder of Infosys, Narayana Murthy. The company has already started hiring staff for the operations of the platform.

There have also been talks that Amazon is in its early discussions of acquiring UberEat, another food delivery app that was set up in 2017 by Uber. UberEats has not been able to achieve the kind of growth that has been acquired by Swiggy and Zomato and is almost on a standstill for a while.

As Zomato is now on the defensive and losing out its popularity, it seems that it is the best time for Amazon to try out its food delivery app in India. UberEats is also suffering due to their support for Zomato. People have also urged to boycott Swiggy as they have not clearly mentioned their stand on the same.
