Veteran actress Ava Mukherjee who shot to fame with TV commercials for Himalaya Drug Company in 2000s, is no more. The lady breathed her last at the age of 88.
Ava Mukherjee was also seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas which also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles.
Ava played the role of SRK’s grandmother in the film.
Mukherjee began her career with a Bengali film Ran Dhakka in 1966. She then went on to essay brief role in Sunil Sippy’s 2000 film Snip. After that Mukherjee featured in Devdas, Darna Zaroori Hai, and Detective Nani, which was directed by her daughter, Romilla.
Avatar Mukherjee worked as a copywriter, translator and writer before stepping into films.
