In a so-called man dominating the world, women have always been fighting for their rights and have always proved that they are no less than any man mentally or physically. At this time it is very necessary to have at least two earning members in the family, especially when there are children in the family and one needs more money. A sudden passing of an earning member of the family can bring the financial crisis in the family.
However, a brave woman like Sandhya Marwari has made their way to make some money for family despite of all the odds. Sandhya Marawi is a 30-year-old woman and is India’s first lady coolie. After passing away of her husband, the worry of raising three young children and arranging meals for them haunted her but she didn’t give up. Instead, Sandhya decided to become a coolie and earn money for her family’s welfare.
She works out of Katni Junction in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur. Every evening she manages the journey to 45 Kms from Kundam to Jabalpur, then to Katni railway station. Since January last year, she is carrying weight on her head and shoulders like men for her family. She is the only woman coolie among 40 men coolies on the station.
The story of India’s first coolie is really inspiring and every woman needs to have a brave heart like her.
