Rajput Karni Sena demands countrywide ban on Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’

In spite of bagging the CBFC permission and a novel date to release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial flick Padmavati (at the present Padmavat) carries on confronting criticism from the Rajput Karni Sena.

At this time, Rajput Karni Sena stated that just by altering the title of the movie and making meagre changes in the condition they can not play with our emotions and can’t give a good reason for the insult of our ‘deity queen of Chittor’.

The head of Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi stated, “The film brings disgrace to Rani Padmini and it is an attack on Rajput pride. The film presents distorted facts and threatens to shake India’s cultural identity. We ask the government and CBFC, why they are silently witnessing this defamation of India’s pride? Why do they feel the compulsion to release a film that hurts the sentiments of people? The compromise made between the censor board and makers of Padmavati cannot be accepted. We warn that theatres releasing the film would have to face detrimental consequences?”

The self-vigilante group also interrogated the genuineness and trustworthiness of CBFC and stated that the CBFC is misinforming them by saying that a squad of historiographers appraised the movie whilst the fact is that not all of the member of panes were historians and for this reason, their proposals cannot be realized.

“Moreover, the CBFC proposed to bring in nine historians in the panel but ended up calling only three. This depicts their lack of seriousness towards our concerns.”

The work of art, which has Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor donning the major characters got a green signal from CBFC with five amendments, chiefly in the disclaimer, altering the name from Padmavati to Padmavat and the number named Ghoomar.

But, Rajput Karni Sena has completely discarded the film and has asked for a countrywide ban on the movie. The movie has already been banished in many states comprising Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Since the movie is colliding with Akki’s Padman on January 26, we are anticipating a great box office clash between these two flicks. But which movie will be the victor in this battle, only time will tell.
