Shilpa Shetty says sorry for her ‘insulting’ comment after Valmiki community’s protest

On December 22, a FIR got filed against two Bollywood biggies including Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan at Kotwali police station in Churu region of Rajasthan.

The reports stated that the FIR was lodged by the Valmiki community. The community members showcased protestations against Sallu’s latest movie Tiger Zinda Hai, alleging that Sallu hurt emotions of the Valmiki community.

The members also stated that Shilpa Shetty had, in a video recording showcased previously, made “insulting” remarks, which hurt the feelings of the community.

Now the actress has made a special tweet to make an apology for the same and wrote, “Some of my words from an interview in the past have been misinterpreted.It was never said with the intent of hurting anyone’s feelings…”

“I apologize if they have. I’m proud to belong to a country that boasts of diverse castes and creeds and I respect each one of them.🙏🙏,” she added up.

Previously, Churu rgion’s SP Barhat Rahul Manhardan told reporters, “An FIR has been lodged against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act and section 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of IPC.”

Actor Salman Khan became part of at the television show Super Dancer 2 to endorse his movie Tiger Zinda Hai in recent times. The alleged episode took place a few years back

On Friday, when the movie Tiger Zinda Hai hit the theaters, members of Valmiki society staged protests outside theaters in the city of Jaipur and also threw away posters of Tiger Zinda Hai. They also filed a complaint at Nahargarh police station against the actors.

The community members cited a video in which the actor allegedly used a word deemed insulting by the group of people.

Jitendra Hathwal, spokesperson of the Valmiki community shared earlier, “Salman hurt the sentiments of the Valmiki community….. We are holding state-wide protests in Rajasthan… We demand that Khan issue an apology to the community.”

Jitendra Hathwal also claimed that protestations are also being held in places like Uttar Pradesh as well. The police officials had took at least 10 people into preventive custody also.
