Social Media giant Facebook is one of the most used platforms all over the world. Facebook has a huge user base in India and everyone knows that Facebook is also a hub of fake ids.
It seems like Facebook has come up with a solution, especially for Indian users. Facebook has reportedly started testing an Aadhar Card based platform on its platform. The social media platform will now ask to enter the same name in ID name as of in the Aadhar Card.
With this, Facebook aims to fight rising number of fake ids on the Facebook. The message while signing up being displayed reads “Using the name on your Aadhaar card makes it easier for friends to recognize you”, following the “What’s your name?” field wherein the user has to enter the name.
However, this is only optional as there is no security checkup set up by FB to ensure that name entered by the user is same as that of in Aadhar. That means, as of now, the user does not have to upload any Aadhaar card photo or other verification. This message is reported by only a few.
This can definitely mean that in future, something like such verification can be kept up by Facebook in India.
