Nagpur to become first Indian City to recycle more than 90 percent of it’s generated sewage water

Water and it’s importance, the lesson which we used to study in our school time was not just a lesson, the crises and problems are faced by all of us in reality and the level of groundwater is constantly going down and one of the major solution that in chapters we have studied is it’s reusability.

The most common solutions to solve the shortage of water is to utilize this water for most of the domestic water from irrigation to toilet to laundry.

The solution is to recycle and reuse sewage water, which can be utilized for many other purposes. For this initiative, many cities across India have already taken major steps in cleaning and reusing the sewage water. But among all the cities Nagpur is all set to become India’s first city that will recycle more than 90 percent of the generated sewage water.

While the Municipal Corporation of Nagpur is developing and building more plants with the aim in their mind of recycling 480 million liters of the total 525 million liters per day, it was reported by Times of India.

Apart from that, the NMC official told to the TOI, “The National Thermal Power Station known as NTPC has agreed to obtain 150 MLD sewage.”

Wherein the Maharastra State Power Generation Company Limited(Mahagenco) had also a Memorandum of Understanding signed to protect 190 MLD of treated sewage water.

One of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board official told The Times of India, “With less than 14% of water available in the water bodies in and around Chennai now, we are looking for all possibility to rejuvenate the water bodies. Hence, we have adopted the IIT-M’s model where sewage water is being treated and pumped into the lake. This methodology helps to recharge the groundwater and also create a sustainable water source.”
