The National Film Award is India’s most prominent film awards ceremony and most cherished. It was established in the year 1973 along with the International Film Festival of India. This is an award given to the movies for the excellence in cinematic achievements for India. These awards are presented by the Directorate of Film Festival and its first award was given on 10th of October, 1973.
The National Film awards were announced by Shekhar Kapur, who is the head of the Jury for feature films. The awards for this year were given on 7th of April. The 65th National Awards have been announced and here is a list of winners;
Sridevi wins posthumous National Award for ‘Mom’ for Best Actress
Best actor male was backed by Riddhi Sen for the movie ‘Nagar Kirtan’
Pankaj Tripathi has won a special mention award for the movie ‘Newton’
National Award for the best film was backed by ‘Newton’ directed by Amit V Masurkar and starring Rajkummar Rao.
National Award for Best Supporting Actress was backed by Divya Dutta for the movie ‘Irada’.
National Award for Best Music Direction was backed by A.R. Rahman for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’, as well as for the Best Background Score for ‘Mom’.
National Award for Best Choreography was backed by Ganesh Acharya for the song “Gori Tu Latth Maar” from ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
National Award for Best Special Effects was backed by the movie ‘Bahubali: The Conclusion’.
The awards were very well deserved and the movie ‘Newton’ performed really well on the screens. Starring Rajkumar Rao, the movie was based on election and how a man waits for an entire day to hold elections in a tribal Naxalite area. The movie deserved the win.
