Mumbai!!!! It’s just not a city but a dream city of many people. Daily, number of people reach there to accomplish their dreams. Many are struggling while many have already made their name in the industry and enjoying working there. Well, the city is just more than about the entertainment industry. The city is has beaches, amazing cafes and most importantly it is covered with Graffiti in different vibrant colours, witty and dark texts. In few years, the Graffiti has taken the place in the walls of Mumbai all over. You can see that every wall in Mumbai along with streets is painted with vibrant colours and texts.
To your knowledge let me tell you that Graffiti/Street is a form of art through which an individual can express strong thoughts, opinions, and dissent. It is used to create awareness about various pressing issues revolving around society, politics, environment, etc. Well, not everything that is painted on walls depicts message , some are just made for fun or either some form of art .
Though it is not allowed to paint the streets officially but the Mumbaikars have accepted it already. These arts are on the walls of years old chawls, outer walls lining the railway tracks, and on the walls of ruined mills and factories. Mumbai area Bandra is the one that has the maximum number of Graffiti.
Well, let me tell you about some of the great Graffiti in the city:
- Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan Deewar Mural:This wall art is done by Ranjit Dahiya as through this he pays tribute to India’s ‘first superstar’. He has also made Amitabh Bachchan’s Deewar mural. The Rajesh Khanna mural is adjacent to the Deewar mural. Both of them look mind blowing.
2. Sassoon Docks: Sassoon Docks is one the largest fish market in the city which is located in Cuffe Parade. Today, there are many murals and other artworks of artist from around the world. The one by the artist named JR titled ‘Inside Out’ in simple word is just amazing.
Other astounding artworks and Graffiti in the city are Anarkali Mural, Shri Markandeya Mural, Artwork at the wall of Lion Gate, Between Us in Pasta Lane, Colaba etc.
These are some of the handful artworks from the city. The city is filled many of it and if you ever visit there just go and see all of it.
