Inspirational Story of Neetu Who Breaks All Barriers to Fulfill Her Dream Becoming an ‘International Wrestler’

Neetu Sarkar sets an inspiration for several women across the world who is still leading a life without having the courage to break the barriers. With an intention to become a wrestler, she struggled hard in her life. At the age of 13, she got married to a 43-year old mentally challenged person. Out of fear, she just ran away in 3 days. Later, the family members of Neetu once again compelled her into marriage with some other man.

At just an age of 14 years, she became a mother of twin sons. Sanjay, her second husband was a jobless person. All the members of the family relied on the pension of his mother in order to fulfill their daily needs. For making their life set, Neetu started working as a labour in the construction field. She worked hard by carrying out several odd chores at an early age.

She has immense interest in wrestling. In a village like Bhiwani in Haryana, there was gender inequality and a less sex ratio. During an interview, Neetu said, ‘I really wanted to wrestle… I became a mother at 14 and the family’s financial condition didn’t allow me to think about sport for the next two-three years.’

Her husband respected her passion and supported her by all means. From then, Neetu started working in order to become a wrestler. Every day, she woke up at 3 AM and used to run 10 km in order to lose her weight. Eventually, she began her training to become a wrestler. With her strong passion and dedication, she began her training at the National Stadium in Rohtak.

In the year 2014, she won a bronze medal in 53-kg category at the Senior National Championship. People started praising her in her village after winning a medal at the National Games in the year 2015. Now, the major goal and dream of Neetu is to win a medal at the International Olympics.
