Title: On Second Thought: U.S. Adults Reflect on Their Education Decisions
Source: Strada Education Network and Gallup
According to a recent report by Strada Education Network and Gallup, 51 percent of adults would change at least one of their prior postsecondary educational decisions.
Although most people said they received a high-quality college education, 36 percent regretted their field of study and 12 percent regretted their degree type. The desire to change major is especially prominent among bachelor’s graduates, with 40 percent reporting dissatisfaction with their choice. The data show that students may have made the wrong decision for their future careers due to insufficient information, such as statistics about employment opportunities and salaries.
The report is the first component of a three-year study on consumer insights to help policymakers and higher education leaders better understand the problems students face. Strada Education Network says the study will generate the largest data pool ever of consumer insights into education.
