Narendra Modi becomes the 14th receiver of this award which has been sponsored by the Seoul Peace Prize Foundation. The past winners of this award are former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and international relief organizations like Doctors Without Borders and Oxfam.
At the ceremony, a short film on PM Modi’s life has been screened and when bestowed with the award, Modi Ji talked about his policies such as the demonetization which is said to be a contribution in the economy’s growth.
The Seoul Peace Prize was set up in 1990 to celebrate the achievement of the 24th Olympic Amusements held in Seoul. It has its beginning in the Korean individuals’ longing for harmony in the Korean promontory.
